 Our regular blogger for today, Pam Howes, can't blog today - and while we all wish Pam well, it does give us a chance to announce the new Authors Electric anthology, Cooking the Books.
Go into any bookshop - go to Amazon - and what do you find? - Nigella, Jamie, Nigel, Louise, Gordon, Delia…

So, in self-defence, the Authors Electric decided to produce a cook book.
Gathered together here, on these electronic pages, you will find tasty treats and unusual eats from seventeen of the Authors Electric - and Cally Phillips donated a photograph of her hot-plate for the cover. (and Susan Price bribed her brother with cake and cider so he would design the cover.)
Valerie Laws wrote the words for the Amazon page: -

          Liz, Kathleen, Jan, Jo, Karen, Ann, Bill, Lyne, Sandra, Ruby, Julia, Die, Chris, Nick and Dennis all stirred in articles, extracts, recipes until we have a confection for everyone who loves reading and eating, or cooking and writing.  It's a book made for reading in short snatches on the train or bus or during a coffee-break.

      It'll be available very soon - and we're offering it at as low as price as Amazon allows. We hope you enjoy it!

I like the orange cover, nicely retro yet electrical! no doubt it's cos we're hot! Look forward to seeing the whole thing put together - I doubt many will try my skull-rotting recipe but you never know!

Let me confess: I'm a fan of round-robin christmas letters.  It's fashionable to diss them in the UK, but I disagree. Even if the missive is smug and airbrushed and claims the golden offspring can split the atom, it’s more meaningful than a card that only says 'from Nina and Frederik'.      But since I approve of Christmas newsletters, that means I must compose one. Happy Easter! Griselda Heppel channelling her inner  Maggie Smith as Professor MacGonagall from Harry Potter. World Book Day has been and gone and I can now reveal my costume, having kept you in suspense for a whole month. I know. Lucky me, I found this splendid Professor MacGonagall outfit online and have been channelling my inner Maggie Smith ever since (soon to move on to the Dowager Countess What is a weekend? Grantham from Downton Abbey ). I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was and reckon these Hogwarts wizards and witches know a thing or two about Practical Wear for Muggle Workshops (Spells, Charms and the Magic of Books Part 1, for instance). I’ve never before given author talks on each of my books all in one day (including two separate ones on The Fall of a Sparrow ) and I did wonder if I’d end up muddling all 3 of them (oops) or conking out altogether. Author Newsletters by Allison Symes

 Image Credit:  Images created in Book Brush using Pixabay photos. Do you have an author newsletter? It took me a while to see their usefulness but I’m glad I have now got on board here. I use the free Mailchimp plan which is enough for my needs. I use my monthly newsletter to share news, writing tips I’ve found useful, links to my on-line stories, my blog, plus I will share the odd giveaway (where I’ll put in some of my stories not found elsewhere). I enjoy putting the newsletter together and think this is crucial to the longer term success of such things, no matter how you define success. I don’t define success by subscriber numbers funnily enough. It will be ages before I would have to upgrade to a paid plan on Mailchimp but what is encouraging is in having a consistently good open rate.  I subscribe to author newsletters too. I love finding out what my favourite writers are up to, which was the key reason to finally decide to have a newsletter myself.  If I have any specific new
